The Grafton-Midview Public Library seeks a qualified person to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees, the governing body. The Library, located on Main Street in Grafton, serves the Midview Local School District.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting policy to ensure the Library provides adequate services to its patrons. This work involves matters on financing, staffing, and maintaining the facility and the Library collection.
Many thought the role of all libraries would diminish by the 21st century. The fact is libraries have become even more critical in encouraging and enhancing literacy in the United States.
Trustees are appointed by the Midview Board of Education and serve a seven-year term. This vacancy term runs from November 2021 until December 31, 2028, due to an immediate vacancy. Trustees reside in the Grafton-Midview service area or Lorain County.
The Board meets monthly for approximately one hour to conduct the business of overseeing the Library. Each Trustee serves on one or more standing committees of the Board, which occasionally meet between Board meetings.
Anyone interested in applying for the Trustee vacancy should submit a resume to the attention of the Library Director, Adele Infante, 983 Main St, Grafton, OH, or contact a Trustee: Angela Carter, John Dixon, Evelyn Hemmingsen, Corey Herendos, Ted Schriver, or Joseph Urig.
