JAN-APR22

2 GRAFTON-MIDVIEW PUBLIC LIBRARY || JANUARY - APRIL 2022 || REGISTER ONLINE AT GMPLIBRARY.ORG FROM THE DIRECTOR... As we welcome 2022, our staff and administration look with renewed hope to a year of kindness and community outreach service for our new patrons and old friends! Our goal is to commit ourselves to helping improve our community and make an impact. We want to do this by taking a look around our Midview district and focusing on the needs. In January, our team will bring back our Denim for Dolly pledge to the children in our community. We want to support early literacy by wearing jeans and donating to the Lorain County Imagination Library one day each week. We hope to help each child in our district from birth to age 5 receive a free book in the mail each month of the year. In February, we focus on old and used electronic devices. Teaming up with PCs for People, we hope to do our part by recycling responsibly for the good of the earth while our collaborator supplies refurbished computers for those in need. Pets are a big part of our lives at GMPL. Just ask one of us about our wall of pet photos in our lounge! We have decided to partner with Multiple Breed Rescue to help spread the word about available adoptees. However, in March, we take it a step further to help our furry friends by providing educational sessions at the Library on safety with rescues, training, and the role of fostering. In April, we partner with our Library advocates, Friends of the Grafton-Midview Public Library, as we share a concern in the community: the lack of food and personal products. The Friends received a grant for aFood Pantry to collect non-perishables for people to take or donate. This past year, they added a Personal Pantry on the parking lot side of the Library building to supply people in need with sanitary products, shampoo, soap, diapers, and much more. Our goal is to bring awareness to these needed pantries and help the supplies keep coming. This is just the beginning of a year-long goal of assisting our fellow humankind. If you know of a need, please share it with us. Or, you might want to ask yourself, what will you do to help in 2022? Are you needed to volunteer, donate or even become a Library advocate by joining the Friends of GMPL? Could you help us make a difference this year? Adele Infante
